FAQ for Business Photo Shoots
Day of the Shoot
How much time do I need to set aside for my shoot?
Heather will aim to arrive approximately 30 to 45 minutes prior to the beginning of your shoot to size up the space and set up her equipment. Please allow at least 30 minutes for her to break down and pack up her equipment afterwards.
What should I wear?
There are few things to consider when selecting the attire for your shoot. The first element to consider is the setting of your photos. If you will be in your work environment, you will want to not only select colors that will allow you to stand out (light colors on a dark background or dark colors on a light background), but you will want to select the style of your outfit based on the work that you do. If you are a chef, for example, you will likely prefer to be photographed in your chef attire in your kitchen or surrounded by your culinary creations. Similarly, a personal trainer should be photographed in activewear in a gym or fitness studio.
Second, it is best to wear colors that complement your skin tone. If you have very light, pale skin and blond hair, you will want to stay away from tans and light pinks. For attractive-looking photos, try to stay away from bold colors and bright patterns. For group shots, it is also a good idea to coordinate the color palette and style (e.g., business casual vs. business professional) among everyone who will be photographed in order to maintain a cohesive look.
Reserving or Changing your Session
How do I reserve a date and what are the payment terms for a portrait session?
Once you have decided upon a date and Heather confirms her availability, you can reserve your date with a 50% deposit. The balance of the price for your selected package is due upon receipt of your invoice, which will be sent to you after the completion of the session.
What if I scheduled an outdoor shoot and there is inclement weather?
You have two options in the event of bad weather:
- Move the location indoors
- Reschedule your shoot
If Heather is concerned about the weather, she will call you the day of the shoot to discuss your options. A separate deposit will not be required for a shoot that is rescheduled due to poor weather conditions.
What if I need to cancel my shoot?
Heather would appreciate if you could provide as much advance notice as possible. In the event of a cancellation, your deposit will be returned according to the following schedule:
- more than 72 hours prior to your scheduled shoot: 100%
- 48 to 72 hours prior to your scheduled shoot: 50%
- less than 48 hours prior to your scheduled shoot: 0%
The Photos
When will my photos be available?
Depending on the complexity of your shoot (number of locations, number of photographs taken, amount of image manipulation requested), you can expect a notification within five business days after the shoot stating that your proofs are available for viewing.
Why does it take so long for my proofs to be available?
Two factors contribute to the amount of time it will take for your proofs to be available: the number of shoots Heather has scheduled during the same week as yours and the number of your shots that Heather selects to edit and upload to your proofing portal (applicable to customized packages).
